Broke the accelarator pedal?

Hello, wondering if anyone knows how to remove the accelarator pedal from a 1985 300TD. I have a 1988 420 sel parts car and am wondering if we could swap the pedal from that car over to the wagon. They look about the same. Problem happened when snow built up under the pedal and froze....broke the connection to the floor on the pedal?
I just can't see how to take the one off the parts car? Is there a clip I am missing? Thanks.

call me stupid, but when you guys say accelerator pedal, are you talking about the plastic piece you press? or the actual accelerator bar that connects to the throttle linkage?

OH!, SORRY, YES HOW EVIL...just re-read it and I intended to add that you must pull the carpet out for the drivers section so you can get at the base of where the pedal attaches to the floor of the car. Once you have the carpet out you will see a plastic tab on the front bottom edge of the base of the pedal.....get some pliers and pull that tab straight out.....then slide the pedal up the metal rod that the top portion fixes to until the base of the pedal is free from the stump of metal sticking out of the floor, from where you just pulled the locking tab out of....then lift the arm of the metal rod abit and slide the pedal off.....

note...these instructions are for Mercedes cars and NOT usefull for Toyotas, aha

I always wondered why Mercedes fixed the pedal to the floor like they did...guess you can't get floor mats stuck under our pedals.

I think I've broken about 7 since I've owned my car, but I have a serious lead foot...
