Ignition Switch Problem?
Hello All!
Car is 87 300SDL with 240k miles. I want to confirm which part I need to purchase. The car will not crank. When I turn the key to the "glow plug"/run position all is fine. When I turn the key to crank the car - nothing happens and it does not feel right. The key easily just moves to the crank position and the "spring back"/resistance is not there. The starter is fine - if I put the key in the run position and use one of those remote starter switches - the car fires right up. Do I just need to just buy the ignition switch (it seems to be listed as the electrical part?) or is there something else to buy? Thanks! Richard

Could it be your neutral safety switch? Probably not if your remote starter works. But you might try shifting through the gears and try starting it.

I did try putting it in the other gears - same result. Thanks!
