I finally figured out the fuel leak on my SD...

yeah, that's the fuel outlet line fitting on the bottom of the tank...
I pulled the leaking line off, put a new line on and it still leaked, so I pulled it off and looked it over closely...
what kind of moron does this to a fuel line and leaves it that way?

I had the car up on the lift at the transmission shop, so I pulled the fitting out, and cleaned it up as best as I could, and filled the hole with jb weld... it'll hold until I can pull one off of a parts car of mine...
I bet my fuel mileage goes up now that I'm not dripping constantly...

Someone probably ground off the original crimped fitting to replace the hose, and cut up the barb. But surely they were crazy if they put that back on knowing that it was like that.

yeah, it's hard to see in the pic (stupid camera phones) but there are several grind marks on the flat of the fitting...
you mean, MB put the fuel line on with a crimp fitting? that's insane!

Yes, they come with a band, not a clamp on it. The stealer would replace the entire fitting along with the hose. I ground mine off two years ago to put new hoses on. I fit it with a clamp from the junkyard.
