Oh, but the method worked fine when I used it 20 years ago.;) It just didn't occur to me until I was nearly done that I could have bench bled the slave and avoided bleeding altogether.:( It was another 5 years before I was able to prove the point;).

A couple years ago I was doing allot of swapping around of engines and trannys in 240Ds, and getting allot of "bleeding"in then someone mentioned you could hang the clutch slave up out of the way and not break into the system, when swapping trannies, DOH... As with your method I realize I'm never to old to learn something new (I may not remember it as long however) :D

I should have added that even if you are changing both clutch master and slave as I did second time, also no need to bleed. In that case:

After fitting new master and before connecting pipe to slave slave, fill res. and when fluid is running right through, cap pipe end as before. Let it stand for 10 to15 mins and gravity does the job. Don't pump the pedal! Fit bench bled slave and your done.;)

Have a nice day

I'll give that a try too, the worst thing for me about doing that master is getting up under there:eek:, I take the seat out:P
