I got mine from northern . The impact sockets fit great I used 1 1/16 stuffed a piece of rag in it to cushion the top. Plenty deep and lots of wiggle room.

The soctet I am borowing is a 6 point.

PC collars, I did not thing about them. What about using an impact wrench to do the initial bumping?

You can use an Impact Wrench to remove them.

However, I do not think the PC Ring coming out with the Injector is a common problem unless they are rusted together.
Better insurance might be to apply something like PB Blaster the Night before you remove the Injectors.

Hi
The Harbor freight deep impact set is also 6-point.

I just used the HF deep socket with a breaker bar to remove the injectors from the engine.

But when it came time to take the injectors apart - two were so tight that I have to use my impact wrench.

I've got a 24" breaker bar. I like the 6 point socket better, espcially since the injector has machined rounded corners.

How deep is the HF socket?

I have the $20 Impact Deep Wall Impact socket set (Black Oxide coated and in a black metal case). That one worked for me when I took my injectors out for new nozzles.

I just saw the question about the impact wrench... I personally wouldn't use power to get these off. I used a breaker bar. If you're not on there good and snug which is a little tough with the clearance you have between the injectors and the head (at least on my 87), you could strip the injectors 'hex'. I guess it's not a hex necessarily but you get the idea.

Breaker bar for me.

The problem I found was a lot of the deep sockets I looked at would hit the "hex" either 1/4 to 1/2 way down due to the barbs and the machining of the socket. There were some that would not even hit the "hex".

I used an old injector for fitment at each of the places I went.

Hi
Well, after bragging about the Harbor Freight deep socket set - I went out put an injector in the socket - and sure enough you are correct - it only grips a little of the hex.

I didn't have any trouble with using it to get the injectors out - But I do agree it would be better if the socket were deeper.
