Looks like you found your problem! Just take your time putting it back in, it can take some finagling in that narrow tunnel. Also, you might consider covering the surrounding tunnel areas with plastic wrap to keep any accumulated dirt from getting on your new clean piston (also keeps it from falling on your face!)

I might be speaking too soon, but ah the taste of victory!

There should be the cheap B2 Piston car purchase Club.

I made a buddy of mine purchase a nice $500 car that ended up being a B2 piston also a few years ago. It's been a great car since even with the used salvaged part.

Engine Revs but will transmission will not catch

Thanks for the posotive comments!!! ... im really looking forward to getting the parts to put this thing back together .. for now I am keeping myself busy changing out the rear diff fluid and cleaning up under the hood a bit (its pretty funky .. looks like someone sprayed the engine degreaser on it and never washed it off .. or sometihng its all oxidized white) .. coating the battery tray w / rustolium + rubberized undercoating .. just little things that I can get away with doing for free with the stuff I already got in my garage.... The drivers window is also busted .. the motor is i think .. havent gotten into that one yet..

If the car has the correct coolant (the yellow stuff http://www.valvoline.com/products/brands/zerex/antifreeze/42) it can leave a white oxidized looking residue if its leaking. I had this happen after I changed my thermostat and switched to the yellow stuff, I pinched a gasket

the window motors do indeed fail, but always check the switch first, they often get coffee and soda spilled on them, and it is not difficult to open them up and clean them out with isopropl or contact cleaner.

I havent had a chance to look much at it yet .. I have a power probe I am going to give the window motor power directly and see what happens .. the reason I think it is the motor itself is that I can move the window up and down by hand as if the motor is seperated from the window itself..

How hard was it to yank the old seal out? I had a hell of a time on my SD, took me hours and hours of yanking, pounding, sweating, and skinning the knuckles. Finally got it with an icepick type seal puller and a cheater bar.

dieselgiant's website DIY pictorial says, no stresses, not to mess with the seal...
however, if it leaks AT ALL your b2 piston will not function well...

I managed to figure it out ... those little flat heads are a pain to get out as well but once I got the springs out it was pretty self explanitory as to how the new ones go in.

Success!!!

It was a long day... but I got the B2 changed out before the sun went down and went out for a little vicotory spin... the car felt like it shifted great ... no leaks after the test run im really satisfied with the job .. the car is slow though .. im am used to much faster cars in general .. but I think it needs some more attention.. I mean I step on it and its as if the car pauses to think about moving then starts going ... I mean its has very little down low in the rpms..

tomorrow morning im gonig to change the oil and fuel filters ... get some fresh diesel and clean the ALDA banjo on the back of the manifold .. see if I cant wake it up a bit ... Anythin else I can do????

Do you guys think the old diesel could be part of the problem? i mean the car did site outside my house for a year or so...

Oh and once more thanks to everyone who helped me out here on the forum you guys have been great.
