wow squared.

No, the water in mine appears to have come from the top hatch seal. 3rd-seat footwell has mold under the molded carpet/floor, next pocket forward does not. Seems like primarily the rear hatch area, which fortunately has a solid floor and the steel has no rust. Just a cleaning issue.

Dash coming out tonight, needs a late-model dash. Anyone have a '90-'93 gray 124 glove-box door for sale?

Both my side rear fixed windows leak at the seal, although it takes a bit to notice it so you may want to water test those areas as well. You have to keep it of course.

I would love to see a '94-95 E320 wagon to diesel conversion. It's not hard to find cheap ones with great cosmetics thanks to wiring harness, head gaskets, and transmission failures.

If you are ever looking to sell, then the mutt will probably be harder to do, and worth less . Folks that have put 617s into gassers can testify; there's been a few examples on this forum.

How many miles are on this one?

Holy crap! Still, I can imagine an eBay ad on that photo stating "clean interior."

Pardon my non-lake-adjacent California ignorance, but how on earth does that happen? Are people busy driving on allegedly frozen lake surfaces? Driving off of bridges? Could a rainstorm really cause that kind of total dirt cover? Maybe a hurricane?

Still, it sure would be satisfying to clean it all up. It's probably a good thing I don't have my own private garage.

He's located in the Phillipines, believe he said it was a tsunami or something "act of god" related.

About 195k.

I know, I had planned to build a '95 "mutt" and have pretty much everything in the garage, the 603.960 on a good transmission, #22 head, 55-trim turbo, 3.5L IP, later front-cover and VP, windage-tray oil pan, afterglow relay, etc.

The draw is the later interior, later body trim and cladding, later lights and hood, later bumpers, later seats, later steering pump, later 4-puck calipers/brakes, later suspension, later fender clearance, later window/sunroof control, later dash, later door-cards, later storage armrest and center-console storage bin, native R-134a A/C, later audio system and CD changer, later leather wheel and shifter, later wiper, later cabin filter, etc., etc. as well as having a car that is 8years newer to start.

However, is it more work to properly restore and update an '87 or find a nice '95 (getting tougher also) wagon and convert it to a diesel driveline? I don't know. Just has to be a turbodiesel.

I would say restore the 87.....I have done a couple engine swaps and its a major hassle to get everything to work properly. These 87 300TD's are getting very rare and there is something to be said about preserving this example. I am a huge fan of your color combo, as it is quite rare. The most common ones I see are the White on blue/red. I say restore it and enjoy it! If you are intent on doing an engine swap I am partial to the 606's....

Pulling the dash, I had the dilemma of whether to replace only bad vacuum pods, or all of them.

Being a southern car, of course they all leak. Easy decision anyway.
