new toy

Just had to post this. I just picked up a '83 300D w/256k on the clock off of CL. I CL. Now I have a pair so the 85 won't get lonely. I have a little work to do on it but runs strong. I found it about 20 minutes up the road from me. I guess I now have to read that tach problem thread.

For $850 I figured I would be ahead if the engine and trans worked well. The thing has better acceleration and shifting than my 85 so guess I won't part either of them out. It starts a bit hard and wants to idle too low until it warms up. I do have to get all the drains working and seals fixed. It had a bit of water in the floor mats from all the rain we have been getting.

Well I think so. I know the gasket around the sunroof and windshield are pretty much shot. I know there are drains in the corners of the sunroof. I just pulled a drain plug from the underside below both front doors that were very plugged and cleaned them last night. I also found the very large rubber drain thing on the firewall just drivers side in the engine bay dangling there in some wires and such so it just left a large hole there. Where else do I need to run a wire to unblock? I will be looking on here for other threads about it, which I am sure there are.

Yeah, I know. I already did a dumb thing last night and did a quick check of CL. That nice 300SDL was back on there in Spotsylvania. I prefer the look of the D but ABS and an airbag would be nice.
