Interest in parts from a black over black 240D 4 speed? (not 5)

I am considering a purchase of a 1980 240D with a 5 speed.
*** Correction, I have learned that it is actually a 4 speed after the owner checked for me ****

Not sure if I will part it out or keep it as an extra driver.

Can any shed some light on how rare this may or may not be? Interior is clean (dash cracked). Body is straight, has some rust.
Currently not running.

The 5 speed is pretty rare. I'm also pretty sure the black on black is just as rare as the 5 speed.

I would pick it up. The black interior alone is pretty cool. Any idea why it isn't running?

Pretty rare is an understatement. Any black 123 is rare, a black on black is even more rare, and a five speed is extremely rare in the US. So I'd say a black on black 5 speed 123 is probably one of the rarest 123's you could find atleast in the US. Are you possitive it's a 5 speed. I've seen a few advertised that way and they turn out to be a 4 speed.

It is a 4 speed car.

How does that change the picture now? (other than one less gear).

Given this is black over black, is it still rare?

I'm not sure leather was an option in a 240. I would guess they are the MB Tex vinyl.

A 4 speed manual 240 isn't all that uncommon, the color combo is fairly uncommon, but I don't know that it's rare enough to warrent too much price difference. An all black interior is somewhat common. My 240 has a black interior, and I love it. Doesn't show the dirt nearly as much as the parchement or palamino interiors. I'd be interested in the carpets if they are in good shape, and a manual rear mounted antenna if it has one. Keep me on the list if you part it.

The big ticket item in that car will be the 4 speed and all it's associated parts for a conversion for someone with a turbo 617. If you know the milage and condition of the transmission you can probably fetch upwards of $400 for the trans and all it's parts for a conversion. Other than that you are going to be nickle and diming it. The black seats if in good shape are worth some money, and the various engine parts like the IP you will be able to get a good chunk for. If it has a passenger side mirrow those can go quickly,

For example I have a mark on my passenger seat as the only blemish on the interior. I would like a pasenger seat in black tex. If you have storage available and get it cheap enough you should make a few pesos. These car at some point are going to be scarce. They are probably thinning out all the time now.
