Noisy Power Steering Pump
I searched the forum for info on this issue, and could not find an answer...
This just started Problem: In the morning, the power steering pump groans like it's low on fluid, when ever I turn the steeing wheel It goes away after the engine is warmed up. The filter was changed last summer, and the level is with in normal range. I'm wondering if I need to change the filter again and do a flush on the system. Thanks! |
Could it be the belt needs tightening ?
|
It's possible. There is no belt squeal though. And the noise increases as engine rpm increases from idle. Idle is at approx 700 rpm according to the tach.
|
A flush and new filter might take care of it.
Also, there is a repair kit available at fastlane. I've never known anyone to rebuild one so I'm unfamiliar with how effective but evidently there is a demand. |
Cool! Thanks for the info.
