Hardy Diesel Pop Tester new $199 free shipping
I was just looking on eBay.
The seller hadrydiesel is selling Pop/Nozzle Testers for $199 or make offer. This seems to be a better deal than the Mercedesource $199 Hydraulic Jack Conversion to a pop tester. It was listed as: Injector Tester Diesel New Free Shipping. The only visable detraction is the gauge reads in kg/cm squared. But, there are plenty of internet sites to covert it to bar or psi.

hmmm... country of manufacture?
Looks as if it may be made in ...C-H-I-N-A...? (which may or may not be a bad thing). Always could swap gages for a liquid filled PSI or metric BAR gage...
What about building your own? I did using an Ashcroft 3000 PSI test gage like this one off eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380217854173, along with an (eBay find) Enerpac hydraulic hand pump and miscelaneous fittings from McMaster.com... ...works slick , and total cost was in the ~$200 range; plus the satisfaction of building your own tool? = "priceless" Helpful conversions here: http://www.mackcorp.com/engineeringconversionfactors/convfactors.html (previous thread with pics: Injector tester)

0-600 kilograms force / square centimeter is the range of the gage. A bit of an oddball unit, but it's about 1 bar. 1 kgf = weight of 1 kg mass on earth = 9.81 Newtons 1 Pascal = 1 Newton / Meter^2 1 Bar = 14.7PSI = 101.3 kPa (9.81 N/ 1 CM^2) * (10,000 CM^2/1 M^2) = 98 100 N/M^2 = 98.1 kPa So, 600 * 98.1 kPa/101.3 = 581 Bar = 8,540 PSI. 61x injector pop pressure is closer to 1500 PSI, isn't it? If anything, it would be hard to be precise with this gage. Pop will occur at about 1/6th full scale deflection. When you can, it's better to spec a gage more closely matched with the test condition, say 2-3 kSI

I read it as 8534.006 PSI Depending upon application; The OM61x injectors pop from 1600 - 2180 PSI. The high end is generally commercial/marine/generator application.. I prefer a 4000 or 6000 PSI gauge, as the reading is more accurate.. I posted it to compare the value of the MS Hydraulic Jack Conversion that some members have bought to the real thing. (The Hydraulic Jack MS uses for their conversion may also be made in China.)
http://www.onlineconversion.com/pressure.htm site to do the conversions Actually 600 kgf/cm squared = about 588 bar = about 8528 psi; so there is enough gauge available for mercedes. 135 bar = 137.661 kgf/cm squared so you could target 140 kgf/cm squared as your opening/pop pressure 115 bar = 117.26 kgf/cm squared so you could target 120 kgf/cm squared as your opeing/pop pressure (I do not need to make my own as I own 2 Pop/Nozzle Testers.) I bought a Nossle/Pop tester from them around 1992 when they were still called China Diesel. And, the Poptester is made in China; price back then was $75+sipping. And, since I was not on the internet back then doing the math for the pressure conversion was a pain. My only complaint about the item is that when the Gauge Valve is open the Valve Stem is weeps a little fuel. However, the unit they are selling now is physically different than the one I have. In any event it did the job for me. I managed to get a brand new US made Bacarach Nozzle/Pop Tester about 2 years ago on eBay (exactly like the one I used when I worked in a Fuel Injection Shop) and found out they had stopped producing them 11 earlier. Not a problem as they last forever if taken care of.

I'm making one from a hydraulic ram pump and a 3,000 psi glycerin filled gauge. I let y'all know how it turns out. If it turns out well and if anyone's interested, I be willing to build and sell them for $125 + shipping.
