Moldiest Mercedes

I think I found the moldiest one yet It's a 300E that I'll make into a 300D, I cant find anything on it's VIN but I have Emailed the Classic Center and maybe get a Decoding from them.. I have an 84 300SD with a 617 Engine. Think it would fit in the 300E?

A good wash, maybe the claybar. It'll buff right out.

I have the entire Driveline. the interrior is perfect, no cracks, no smell even believe it or not, the steering wheel has that moldy look to it. it has 160,000 miles on it I think this car was originally Red... around a couple of the handles you can see red paint.. it's Ironicly the same color as my wagon is supposed to be.

i'd just walk away

the 603 would probably be a more direct swap

For heaven's sake be careful of your health. I know you would wash it thoroughly and try to remove all mold and mildew, but having seen flood cars in our area since Oct. '09, you cannot be too careful. Even the ductwork will have that stuff in it and it doesn't take a lot of mold to cause all kinds of respiratory problems. I'm just saying..."Be careful"!!

It's classic project car hell, a car infested with mold coupled with an engine swap few or none have done.

Just on the curious side: How do you plan to get it clean on the inside? I ask because I always want to know how to solve a problem I might run into one day.
Is there a specific product you will try, or just plain soap and water?

x2. A very good friend had his 2 kids in hospital with serious respiratory issues due to mold exposure...

the mold is on the outside, it's a little mildew'y inside but not the worst car I've seen, it's never been flooded, just parked under a tree when the engine started leaking oil. I can get the car for cheap ~200.00. the interrior is fine just the steering wheel really. no odd smells etc. I need something to Futz with when I have the time.. my last project was a dismal failure.. this one might be fun

Mold is the bad stuff. Mildew, not so much. Sometimes will stain upholstery and carpets so, good luck. $200 is a great price if it doesn't need too much.

I am with you. Working on these cars is fun. Hard to say without seeing the car but if the interior is not that bad, go for it. Can t Wait to see how it looks after a good clean up.
Enjoy
