Transmission tuning question

I've read every thread on tuning/adjusting transmissions but cannot distill exactly what I need to do. The car is a '83 300D. The shift firmness is pretty good once warm but I have a slight flare on 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, occasionally it will stack the 2-3 shifts and 3-4 is always nice and crisp.

I would like to make all the shifts nice and crisp like 3-4. The shifts occur at the right rpm's, except when it stacks 2-3 occasionally. I have tried adjusting the bowden, VCV and modulator. Currently the VCV is adjusted to 10in vac and the modulator is turned up enough that 3-4 is just a bit too harsh but 1-2 and 2-3 still have a bit of flare.

So what do I need? The only thing the Superior kit appears to fix for me is the stacking 2-3? Or is this a K1 or K2 replacement issue?

What say the trans gods?

RT

Sounds like a combo of general wear in the trans. and the usual faults in the trans that cause flaring 2-3...

A Trans rebuild should do it--There is only so far you can go covering up faults caused by wear in the trans....

I had good success with a K1 spring kit getting rid of my 2-3 flare that was pretty bad when cold, and still not gone when warm I would suggest the K1 spring, rather than the Superior kit just because the K1 kit it only $13.

Tranny Adjust

Here SMR's interpretation:

It's CRITICAL... how you set your transmission's vacuum system on your diesel MBZ...
