I'll bet you I see six to eight a week down here in Houston. Then again, I'm on the highway for 65 miles a day, so I've got some ass-time. Houston, my neighborhood especially, has a LOT of them - wagons, sedans, and the occasional coupe.

Everyday, all over

I see at least 5 per day, including a wagon or two. In fact one day I stopped for lunch and parked close to a busy street. I ran in to get chinese take out, and returned to a wagon convention. They saw mine parked and converged, it was kinda fun except I had to get back to work. We exchanged war stories, and I told them about this forum. I live in an area that has hundreds of exotic cars. I've seen them all, everyday. On occasion, some one offs, mule platforms etc. The Concours takes place about 5 miles from my house. We used to call Mercedes Benz cars "Pebble Beach Fords" when we were kids. I'd say you pretty much cannot go a day or two without seeing a diesel Benz here. Some are really pretty, others are beater status, but still going. I used to regularly see a 512TR Ferrari on the way to work. The guy drove it like a beater. I've pretty much seen it all, including a 66 Bizzarrini, in downtown Carmel. How's that for esoteric?

I see a few MBs each month. Some are W123s. There is a 240TD for sale locally. I see it everday going to work. Its in very nice shape. Wish I had the money and the space.

Not a dang one. Many more Amish buggys and John Deeres. I see the occasional new MB, but those people don't seem to recognize that I'm driving the same brand.

I see them with some frequency, not daily, but quite often. If its been too long I just go to a friends house to see one haha.

I see a W124 hourly though, things are everywhere.

I see thw twin to mine every day when I come to work. It is parked beside a house in Deland. I have only seen it on the road once.
A friend just bought a cherry 85 wagon. Another friend has a 84 300d and 84 300SD. But besides that I usually see 4 or 5 a month when driving from Deland to Jacksonville.

I bet if I tried I could find at least 50 different ones over a weekend here in Seattle. No kidding, we have a lot of them.

I've never counted, but I see them all the time--daily in So. Cal. They are not considered "nice" cars here, but that's because we have a high butthead to common-sense type ratio.

As I'm looking for a replacement in great condition, seeing all these W123s is driving me nuts with envy. Didn't notice them so much before mine was wrecked, and when I did, I felt both solidarity and superiority, as mine was always nicer!

Now it seems like they are all following me around. Saw a guy at FedEx just last week with a TD, anthracite on black--absolutely pristine. It was just like mine except I had the sedan version. I practically slobbered all over his car. (It'll buff out!)

I actually looked on YouTube over the weekend just to hear the sound of the W123 engine. I may be losing it!

Still, I am doing much better. My husband and I were having dinner on a restaurant patio a few weeks ago, one drove right by us, clickety clanking away. I admit it--I cried like a little girl. At least I've stopped doing that!
Current car:
1982 300D A New Hope! Three-plus tons of China blue steel, rubber, and magic.

Past cars:

1985 300D, Glorious anthracite on black. Gracie. (R.I.P.)
The rest were crappy--including a 1970 Orange Gremlin.

I live in Athens, GA (a college town) and I see 2-3 a day. The fact that there are still so many on the roads was a major factor in my purchase.

There are literally hundreds of them on the roads here in Los Angeles. I see a bunch of them in Palos Verdes Estates being driven by people in their golden years. Probably the original owners! I saw a 300SD driven by an elderly woman that looked like it went through a time machine from 1982. I was tempted to ask if she wanted to sell it but thought...why would she want to do that?

There is one other one in my neighborhood, and I probably see one every few days around denver. I drove from denver to chattanooga over the weekend, I don't remember seeing any on the highways.

I don't see them real often, but they are around....I see more W126's than W123's though. Maybe 2-3 W123's a week.....and maybe 6-7 W126's....usually the same ones. I see W124's fairly often, and W201's....

Wow, I almost started this exact same thread a month ago. I saw 4 300Ds in about 5 days time. I am usually lucky if I see one other older Mercedes diesel in a months time. A week and a half ago, I was a block away from my house and coming down a busy road I see my twin. I couldn't believe it! So close to my house.
