what is this relay or plug? 1987 300TD
this is a mystery plug i just noticed. up by the battery and i can't find any broken or fallen off relay around it. i hope the pics show up. it's a relay harness of some type right next to the battery, 1987 300TDT

That is an early Mercedes Testing port for your EDS ( electronic diesel system) and your A/C system. Mercedes used to plug a special macine into it and it would read out faults in the EGR, and EDS systems.
