1992 300D tdc
Is there a way for me to get tdc without taking the intake crossover off and the valve cover off? I need to check my chain stretch. Thankyou.

yes, you can..... but how do you plan on checking the stretch with everything still in place?
ps - have you given up on the 190? |

you can see the numbers on the pulley, but the only (truly) accurate way to check the stretch is by using a dial indicator on one of the lifters.
this is referred to as the '2mm valve lift method' and is available as a reference under the 'Resources' tab at the top of the forum page |

as you know, tdc happens twice for a full cycle.
you want tdc on the compression stroke, this means both the lobes on the camshaft for cylinder #1 must be pointing up. you should be able to see them through the oil fill hole with some good squinting... maybe a mirror and flashlight |
