The knob just pulls off. If it won`t, use a cloth to protect it and a pair of Plyers to pull it off. and a large nut to remove. think it might be a 22mm.

Disconnect the battery first.

Video quality isn't the best, but I filmed dashboard removal from my 1979 W123 parts car. Let's see if I can get the link to work:

Thanks Charlie,

I'd thought so but it just wasn't coming off, but I got it.

Now a much bigger problem!

The dash is horribly cracked, and I had no intent to re-use it, BUT it is from the Euro car, and I do want to move the manual climate control system from this car to the other car...so, I knew I'd have to cut a slot in the trim and dash of the new car to accept the leaver that controls the air direction flap. But, I'd pulled off the knob for the air direction flap thinking that's all I'd have to do (no real instructions for these manual climate systems) boy was I wrong, I broke the thing that controls the flap. HELP!

Great video, wish I had watched it 2 hours ago. Doooohhhhhhh! Any ideas on where I can find the center flap control bits? I um, didn't disconnect the cable he talks about here.

I was just off 2 silly MM.

All the dashes have the slot in the center for the lever. it is the wood trim that is different. Twist the tabs on the back side and pull the trim off.
