On Friday the 2nd started a little adventure with the Vacuum Pump on my Volvo. See pic
Full of Oil.

I was saved by a used Vacuum Pump I pulled 3-4 months ago from the only Diesel Volvo I have see in the Junk Yard sincs 1992.

The Vacuum Pump on the Volvo is only used for the Brake Booster and the Manual Type Climate Control.

This is an awful thought but keep this in mind as you examine your Vacuum Pump.
New Vacuum Pump Ruined due to too much Timer Shaft End Play (the title from my notes).

following up,after getting erratic vac pump readings i put new check valves in (had to do it twice-pulling fan shroud etc because i forgot to put the top check valve in the correct position(opposite of bottom 2 with point end away from engine),but after putting it together still no shut off,but i did have steady vacume of 25 inches.i blocked yellow hoses at firewall and now car shuts off correctly, obviously leak in door fuel door etc.so my question is about further isolating leak, ive done search but no info on my vac set up, on my 85 300d on drivers floor there are 2 -3 ways and on passenfer there are 3 -3 ways and an extra yellow line.i understand that red stripes unlock and green lock, any more info as to which is for fuel and trunk actuator, also what is the continuous yellow line passenger side?im getting there and learning a lot but slowly.

Ive been doing some poking around on my '85 300D and due to age it seems that ALL the vacuum lines are age cracked. Grab a line anywhere, bent it to about 90 degrees and you can see the cracks. As I get there all of my lines under the hood especially are going to be replaced.

The line testing Ive done on the interior show those lines to all still be in good shape.
