I wouldn't really want the compass. But the Homelink is tempting. So which of these would be used with the w126? And I assume that the electrical would tie into the overhead light, correct?

you're correct on the wiring being tapped into the switched 12v of the dome light assembly. instructions would be included.

the mirror body that has the homelink automatically also has the auto dim and compass, so you get those two other features with the homelink

correction to my original post in this thread. there are only mirror bodies which have all three functions in them: compass, auto dim and homelink. i don't have mirror bodies with only homelink on them. i am currently working on getting mirror bodies which have just the auto dim on them, which will be easier to wire, and cheaper in price.

I was thinking of gluing one to the windshield and putting boost gauge and pyrometer to cover up the exposed hole.

Homelink and compass rear view mirror

But if I don't go this route, yours seems like a good solution if priced right.

DV: yeah, if you wanted to go the glue to windshield route, you would have a lot more options than this mirror we're offering. With this one, you don't have to have a hole where your rear mirror stalk would be mounted and you'd get an original look. it's more labor intensive but i believe it's a better outcome with a cleaner more original look.

course these days people have all kinds of suction cup thingies suctioned to the windshield so maybe it wouldn't look out of place after all

the project is complete. the mirror has been made. we got the wire harness routed through the stalk and it's just a matter of me taking some pics of it and for us to get a basic instruction manual ready for the early 126/201/late 123 dome light setup. i expect i should be able to post up some pics by the end of this month, early next.

just as a reminder to the w126 guys, the mirror we were originally offering before we started testing the w123 stalk was based on the w201/124 stalk. the 201/124 stalk (non-coupe) has the same attachment point as the 126 stalk, but is shorter by about an inch iirc. so if anyone ends up picking up the 124/201 mirror we're offering, be advised it will sit up a bit higher than your normal 126 mirror due to the shorter stalk , and that might affect visibility a bit especially if you're 'vertically challenged' (i.e. short)

will do. right now, we just completed one 124 mirror and one 123 mirror both for my own cars, and after that we still have two 124 mirrors available. for the sake of keeping this thread in this forum at least until i can post up some pics of the 123 mirror, if there are two buyers for the 124 buyers, they can pm me. they would be the same as the ones pictured in the first page and would include installation instructions for models with the 1987+ style dome light/map light/sunroof motor combination. we are still working on installation instructions for the older gen early 126/201/late 123 style dome lights

time to post up some pics of the completed 123 mirror:

you can see that the wiring harness comes out through the hole in the stalk, and can be routed through the hole in the bracket that holds the stalk to the ceiling
