w123 Rear Sun Screen Pics - Anyone Got P/N's?

yeah, just saw these pics on the w123 lang saloon thread. you gotta wonder if this is stock, and if so, what's the part number of the rear sound board with sun screen embedded in it?

anyone good at digging around the euro EPC for an uncommon part number?

Ugh. Those wheels never looked right on a w123. They don't even look proper on an early w126.

I agree, the hubcap and steel wheels look good too but they decrease power and increase fuel usage so I will stick with the aluminum bundts.yes i know it is not much but when you have a 70hp engine dont you want to free up as much power as you can?i imagine you could also get rid of clutch fan and use an electrical and perhaps gain a horsepower or two also.i may end up doing something like this soon.there is a junkyard with a 126 that has a dual electric fan setup that I have my eyes on.Anybodyever tried this on a 123?

You are over thinking. Tiny things like that don't make any type of difference you can feel. Trust me, I've had these cars both ways.........
The fan clutch might buy you a tiny amount, but remember, as I like to say, "If 67hp is the problem, 69hp ain't the answer!"

You sure that's factory? It looks just like one I nabbed out of a 96 Passat GLX... I forgot who the actual manf was. I have one of those in my Jetta, it's a very nice feature. I'd love to have the power one for my SDL.

And 2x on the W124 wheels looking wrong on the W123. (Or are those W126 wheels? I can't tell from that angle)

They are w126 as the w124 and w201's do not fit.

Is the offset different on the W124 wheels? I've seen W124 wheels mounted on a W126 successfully.

i'm pretty sure this is a mercedes part--it could be a rare enough option that no one can dig it up in the euro epc

so this sunshade in the pics above is one off your friend's car? i saw a rear sunshade on ebay right now that's allegedly an original w123 accessory. i'm trying to get the seller to give me the part number, but i doubt he will.

i'm thinking there's two other options for sunshade. there's this ebay listing for one with a remote control:
http://cgi.ebay.com/POWER-REAR-SUN-SHADE-BMW-MERCEDES-LEXUS-TOYOTA-NISSAN_W0QQitemZ120549102749QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1c1149549 d

or you can go the original mercedes route, like the w126 one, slk or w220 series. i actually kinda like the remote control one since you just need to wire it to a 12v power source and not route wiring harness all the way to the dashboard and find a place to install a switch

This is the first I heard steel wheels and hub caps decrease power and increase fuel usage.
there is a thread where the weights of the different wheels are posted. I really doubt there is a difference in the milage though to make a noticable difference at the pump. now hauling a fat chick around, now that will drop the milage.

there are the aluminium wheels that the 240`s had that look like the steel wheels and use the hub caps.
I would say the hub caps decrease the wind resistance and let the wind slide by compared to the bundts with all their spokes and holes.

The w126 dual fan set up is for the AC, and is a pusher fan set up. a puller fan in the back is more efficient.
maybe two fans on the front of a 240 might make the car go faster as they help pull you down the road. maybe an adjustable pitch fan like an airplane propeller to take a larger bite out of the air.

I have seen the rear sunshade on the w126 years ago. they are electric and were a dealer option. I havent seen one in a long time, even at PNP.

there is a member over on Benzworld that scored one at PNP last summer and installed it on his gasser 126. He got the wiring harness and switch. not that big a deal to install. there is a rod that attaches at the top of the glass and at the shelf it rides on. I have seen his car and it looks nice.

the E-Bay one is a Universal Power Sun Shade. that is a one size fits all. that one has the 2 bars on either side that lifts it.
The mercedes shade doesn`t have that.

No, that's not my friend's sunshade. He sold it to another friend overseas who needed it.
