changing cars-what should I save from old

I bought a new 190d with new body work and less miles, but no transmission.
So I'm changing my transmission over from my faithful but rusty current driver. I will keep the current car for parts, but realize I can get rid of any duplicate new parts, etc. Should I keep a spare injector pump? I dont run veg. What else should I retain?

I would for sure keep the injector pump, I would keep as much as possible. Also how about some pictures of the new one.

I bought a parts car thinking I could pull a few things and sell the rest. But as time has gone by, I've been using parts I never anticipated needing and can see the utility of just keeping everything and pulling useful stuff well into the future. To me, it would be more valuable to just keep it intact.

Good advice. Of course I dont need anything blue out of the interior. I doubt I'll ever need another set of front struts, or another new ignition lock either. I mentioned the injector pump mainly because I wonder if they fail very often in "regular" service. I doubt it highly. Starter I would keep.

In my experience with keeping old cars going, its the little things that are hard to get--the visor clips, specialty lines and hoses, things like that.

There is always the screw, clip, or plastic bit that is needed from time to time. If you are in the end going to send the old body to the crusher, I would save every thing I could save.

window regulators and motors, seats, over head panels, visors, door panels, glass, dash (if good), heater controls and or the whole heating/AC assembly,, rear axles, Differential, driveline. etc......
there is always some part you might need later.

Is this car a Manual or Auto trans? manual, save the shifter assembly and shift rods.

As far as the Blue interior, sell the parts to some one, or they can be painted to match your new interior. there is the special paint for painting over the vynal. I used it on a panel, and can`t tell the difference.
