Generation II Lower Molding (W126)

Has anyone ever installed the Generation II lower molding on a Generation I car? The lower molding that goes below the doors. It looks pretty straight forward. It looks like I will only have to drill holes on the bottom for screws, and then I was thinking of using the 3M double sided tape to holed the top on since there are no holes for the clips.

Has anyone done this before?

Good question. I always thought that gen2 molding would be nice to hide the rust holes in my rockers.

if its anything like the W201 and W124 chassis cars, the cladding panels will attach quite easily with very minor if any modification but may require a trip to the stealership for a few choice clips.

My understanding was that the Gen II were plug-n-play with the Gen I plastic pieces. I wanted to do this to my Gen I, but it's low on my priority list.

Cool! Where did you get those parts/panels? And did you paint them yourself? I too would like to change mine out at some point. It's just that most of what I see in the salvage yards are the long wheelbase models, which obviously wouldn't work (at least the back doors wouldn't). I'm kind of thinking I'll just keep what I have until I repaint the cars, which is at least a few years away.

Yeah I got all the molding off a 91 300SE that was fresh out at the junk yard when i found it. I've had the upper part (the parts that are normally on the get 1) on my car for some time, the lower parts have been in my attic. the last few weeks i've been trying to get them all on my car. painted everything... except for the rear bumper. waiting on that till this is all on the car because I've run out of saw horse space.
