Following my vacuum lines around I found a disconnect. Transmission shifts better but not perfect. I want to remove all the epa crap.

Here is how I bypassed my EGR. There is a fitting on the front of engine that is a 5 way fitting. Like a T but double on top. The way to bypass it is simply to unplug the two lines going to the passenger side, and place a golf tee in each port. Later you can use an "F" fitting.

More issues. The aux nipple on the vac pump is not pulling any vac, any chances this is the check valve or is a rebuild necessary? Also I am leaking gasses at the joint in the manifold between #1 and #2 pistons, is this hard to replace? Also AC turn off during acceleration seems to be loose, is this hard to replace? VCV doesnt seem to hold pressure at all. I tried plugging one of the top orifices and puling a vac on the other (and also the opposite) without luck. Does this mean its bad? I have a 617M pump with the similar VCV as on this 87 and it behaved the same way so I am ???

what joint? intake or exhaust?
my TD has a flex connector between #2 and #3 in the exhaust that was cracked. I fixed it so far with permatex exhaust repair tape.
