PCV elbow broke... how about this fix?

I've been considering venting my PCV for a while now, well while replacing a dry rotted vacuum line connector I broke the PCV elbow. In a panic I bought the following at advance: spectre breather (yeah JDM), doorman hose plug, doorman universal PCV grommet. I think it works pretty well, The breather took a bit of a push to get into the grommet I put in the valve cover but it seems pretty safe and leak free. I'm just looking for someone to say JESUS NO DON'T DRIVE THAT! before I make the 2 hour drive back to school.

The plug in the air intake boot is slightly oversized, threaded, and tapered, so it shouldn't back out or get sucked in.

Of course it is not legal to vent crankcase gasses, but that's not what you asked.

I am guessing that it's going to make a bit of a mess on the top of your engine and the hood pad.

Not to mention its going to clog up in no time depending on the amount of blowby on your engine

So yes its safe, just potentially messy? It has a paper filter element in it so until it clogs up it shouldn't make a mess of my hood pad.

It's going to get messy and oily. In less than 2 hours.

if it clogs up, you will end up pressurizing the valve cover and blowing out the valve cover gasket. Ask me how I know.
Continued pressurization could potentially result in an enormous high speed oil leak as the engine basically forces motor oil past the gasket. Like a quart or 2 every hundred miles. The leak could potentially be so bad that you might have motor oil run down your tail pipe and splash up onto your rear window and trunk while on the highway. Again, ask me how I know.

This car hasn't gone through any oil in 1,100 miles. I don't think it's a blowby monster.

Safe for two hours or should I leave my car?

it'll be fine for short term, heck, I once drove about 1900 miles with the hose cut off completely and it just open to atmosphere!

I just didn't want crap falling in the valve cover since the old grommet was coming apart

Got home fine, but oil was dribbling out around the base of the pcv filter. It smelled like fresh oil at idle but the time I got to Columbus. I'll revert to stock this week, anyone got that tube to sell me?

The doorman pcv grommet fits well and I'll probably use it with my replacement OEM tube.

Is this what you are looking for? don`t know what yr car you have. this is for a 85 300D and maybe others.

you aren`t going to hurt the engine, get to where you are going, and then fix it. any pressures in the engine will come out through that little filter. there should be baffles to keep the oil from blowing out. and if you do have a mess, take it to a car wash and power wash it.

I have a complete 602 sitting at home minus the head, but I got all the little stuff off of it, going to have my friend look for the tube, I'd rather use a free one than buy one.
