Torque Converter

I did a fluid and filter change last week on my wife's 84 SD. I found the plug
on the torque converter and drained it. Changed filter and re-filled.

Today I did the same to my 85 TD. All went well except I couldn't find the plug to drain the converter. Is it possible that it, in 85 model year, it no longer has a drain plug? I know it is a different stall speed converter. Perhaps MB stopped putting one in. Anyone know if that's the case? Since
I switched to Dex6 I really wanted to get as much of the old stuff out as I
could.

That is not the case. Look for it some more. You'll have to turn the engine of course.

I have an '85 trans in my SD, it has one. They all do up until the early 2000's era....

Dang

I was afraid that I just missed it. I'm paying for the fact that my wife's drainplug was just .25 in. away, hehe, sitting almost in the little window. Moot point until the next fluid change. Mixing old and new Dex likely won't be a problem, as I intend to change the fluid once per year or so. I feel bad for giving up the hunt for the plug though

Its easiest to just turn the engine bit by bit from under the car with a socket wrench...or use a flat screw driver on the torque converter to move it bit by bit...(less ideal way of doing it)
