Exclamation Upper oil pan reseal? and other seals

Has anyone ever replaced the seal on the "upper oil pan" does this leak often? I am doing a "reseal" on the engine i just bought (617.011) and i am just wondering if this is a common leaky place and if its easy to do. the engine is just completely covered in years of diesel slobber and i want to replace all of the common seals. do all the 617's use the same seal part numbers?

So far I have on my list:

Intake
Exhaust
Oil filter housing
Turbo to exhaust manifold
turbo to oil drain
Valve cover
lower oil pan
IP
turbo drain tube to pan
thermostat housing to head

and i was told the oil check valve?

If i have left any out please add to my list

Thank you all!

Rear and front crank. I mean, if you pull the upper oil pan you're like halfway there. But I have to admit I'm skipping all three of those.

You did not say if you were pulling the Engine out or not.
Some have said that the Rear Main Seal has a pin or pins that stick into it that prevents it from being pulled out.
If this is true it means that you have to be able to move the end of the Crankshaft far enought away to pull the old seal out. That means removing or loosening Main Bearing Caps.

I am thinking that i am going to leave these three out too .... i think the main leak was from the valve cover leaking the entire way down the engine..... I hope

the motor is on an engine stand right now and i really don't want to have to start dealing will removing main caps.... but i guess i'll look through the fsm and find out how hard it is to do.

I have the pistons out in mine, I will be replacing the rod bearings, rings, and one of the pistons.

I think I am going to take the plunge and do the front seal "while I am in there"... It does look like getting all that balancer/pulley stuff is a bear and the torque on that nut is some gigantic value...

I should be starting on this in the next day or so...

Question; are there really some sort of retainging pins in the Rear Crank Seal Grooves.
Some members have said yes but I have never see it myself and there is nothin in the Factory Service Manual that I have read that mentions any Pins.
