EGR blocking kit on eBay question...
Saw this ad on eBay for an EGR blocking kit (test purposes only) - looks like a good kit. If you watch the video below (Part3) he uses something called high-temp copper seal in the exhaust port blocking portion of the kit - is this a good idea?
That port will get very hot... anyone see any problems using the sealant in there?

Copper RTV is what I have always used to seal exhaust components, that is what it is for. I would not use blue RTV that is in the picture on EGR components.

Ok - great, thx; In the video he uses the 'red' color RTV but the ad shows the 'blue' one...

In the video he uses copper. Copper and Red are two different types of RTV.

"B----'s" kit uses the Copper RTV too. That and a copper disk worked really good. I have had no problems at all with it.
I'm no expert. But, copper would be the stuff to use in there. I don't think the other stuff would cut it?

Do you have a link to that ebay product? I just purchased a EGR blocking kit from BC
I do have the kits available. The cost is $30.50 including shipping and you can use Paypal at: hpcs@compuserve.com. Thanks for your interest. Regards, B.C. Seemed to be a good over all price.

Why not just plug the vacuum line?

I made my own, cut it out of a strip of 1/4" thick aluminum. Easy. Cost about 75 cents to make.

I agree, did the same as well. I bashed out a quarter coin with a ball peen, put it in the line to the exhaust, and made an aluminum plate for the intake. I used 8th inch. I just put the EGR back on over the blockoff plate for possible inspection purposes.

i bought that kit and it came with copper rtv and it has worked well in the 250+ miles i drove it since then. the hardest part is using the clamp for the egr tube to center the pintle cap on the hole and keep it centered as you clamp down on the clamp. works well though once installed.
