Which Master Cylinder Do I have? '83 240D

Hey All,

Just got back from the shop. Turns out my brake booster problem was caused by a faulty master cylinder, so I need to get both replaced.

Since funds are tight, I'm not at the moment able to spend the $600+ for new parts. So I'm looking on car-parts.com (Online Junkyard database) for my replacements.

I've hit a problem though. They've got two master cylinders listed:

"123 Type, thru ch #054824
123 Type, from ch #054825"

How do I know which one I've got?

one is with a pressure sensor and one is without. Does your have a sensor on it?

If your really tight on money get the one without the sensor(usually cheaper) it will fit fine but the wire for the sensor will just be hanging loose.

What does the pressure sensor look like? Is it attached to the cylinder or the reservoir?

If it senses the hydralic pressure it has to be on the cylinder part of the assembly. Low brake fluid is on the plastic fluid compartment if it has that. I am not familiar with all models.
