1982 Yellow 300D

I am looking for my first Mercedes and I came across this:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/33335806@N07/sets/72157623664182096/show/

As one could guess, it is a yellow 300D. It has 104,000 miles on it, a "hard downshift from 2-1", and an AC system that needs work.

I was wondering what people thought about it? Worth the $5000?

Looks like a nice car. Very Clean but the price is a bit high.

I wonder why there is no photo of the instrument cluster or the drivers seat.

I'd want many more pics, and a personal inspection with a mechanic before laying down 5K!
it does look very clean.

Nice clean looking car. X2 need more pictures.

104k miles, need to look at any records to prove that. these speedometers are known to quit.

$5k is a lot of money for a car this age. but if it has all the records, no accident damage, no rust, and I mean no rust anywhere. always garaged, one owner, not driven in the salt. even though the AC in inop, 5k might not be too bad.

Find the same yr car, high milage, miltiple owners, some rust etc.... you could easily dump in that much to get it up to par.

Have a PPI done by a MB mechanic that knows these cars. get it up on the rack and get a good luck under it. check axle boots leaks, cracks. trans leaks, engine leaks. check drive line Discs, U-jount, center bearing, ball joints upper/lower control arm bushings.

maybe there are some Forum members some where near you that might give you some pointers.

I don't see very many w123's that are worth more than $1,000 bucks... This looks like one of them, though!

IMHO, if you want a pristine w123, you can't take a $500 clunker and turn it into a pristine one for that kind of money.

So if you like it and are ok with the money, go for it
