You are SO smart... You figured it out. I was trying to disguise this van so no one would know it is a Dodge. Some slackers in Michigan really built this van and the diesel engine is fake too. It might be a gas engine that sounds bad, but like a diesel.

The previous owner put a sticker on the windshield and swapped out every window with OEM logo etched glass? Anyone can buy OEM etched glass, OEM Aluminum Alloy wheels, an OEM grill, with OEM badges. He was even clever enough to give the doors that heavy solid feeling when you close them. He even changed all the knobs and switches from Dodge switches to OEM Mercedes Benz.

Does this jive? Is this more plausible than what the customer told me? That he ordered the van from a Mercedes Benz dealer?

For $22,000 to $24,000 dollars, it strikes me as high, for a four year old van, with 72,000 miles on it.

If it's such a good deal, "SMOKING HOT DEAL," buy it yourself. I would think that you could get bank financing, with a 90-day, interest only note, and with your special employee discount, turn it yourself at a huge profit.

This would only classify as a public service announcement if you were to forsake your commission on this vehicle. This posting is way too close to the line for me. Its not a MB, not an old MB and not a sedan. Try Craigslist.

Pardon my tone... It had been a LONG day.

I don't understand how someone can conclude this van is not Mercedes Benz Product. If you want to believe something about it is fake, then you have every right to believe that.

I'm not sure why everybody is jumping on the "it's not a MB" thing, but I do know that all the freighliner and DODGE vehicles have the POWERED BY MERCEDES on them. this is a MB Forum, and we discuss the merits of the sprinter all the time.
I thank you for the listing, and hope if someone here on the forum is looking for one of these vans, that they get yours.

It would be an interesting fact if indeed this van was purchased at an MB dealership. I think the MB logo on the grill etc doesn't prove much because lots of people were buying from Dodge or Freightliner and swapping out the logos and grills with MB grills. I was under the impression that MB had nothing to do with selling the vans at their dealerships in the US until quite recently. I don't think the glass means much either since back in the time this van was built, I believe all Sprinters, MB,Dodge and Freightliner were all initially built in Europe.
With that being said, who cares whether it has MB logos, or Dodge or Freightliner logos, it's an MB van in it's design, engineering, parts, and build.

Thank you for the support... I have never brought my work life onto the Forum before. Mercedes Benz vehicles are my passion and my hobby. The last thing I expected from the members here was skepticism. I am enthusiastic about the vehicle. If this was practicle and affordable for me, I would buy it. I found only one like it for sale on Ebay and they are asking $32,000.00 with more mileage.

I spend most of my time on the Vintage section of the Forum. If there have been numerous discussions of the Sprinter, then you have already made up your minds and have opinions on either side whether these qualify as MB Products. In my opinion, after carefully inspecting and feeling out the vehicle, it is a Dodge on paper only.

Maybe I am the one who is ignorant and yesterday I had an extra large bowl of stupid? Please forgive me if I offended you. Yesterday was a long day...

I hope that I remain open-minded and teachable. If I am missing some important fact I would like to know about it.

The local MB dealership in Westminster, Colorado sells Sprinters now that MB and Chrysler have parted ways. I am sure if you are interested you can Google them and find out what new and used ones from their lot go for.

Don't see why everyone is getting excited about it being labeled/branded Dodge or not. It's an MB through and through. Same exact vehicle was sold all over the world.

Smart cars are a Mercedes-Benz product, but you wouldn't sell them as a "Mercedes-Benz". Same here with this van. It's a Mercedes-Benz product, but it was originally marketed here and sold here as a Dodge.

What I'm saying is that this vehicle in question was not sold brand new in the US market with those MB logos on it, the title and the "2500" badges (which are not present on Sprinters with MB logos) proves that. And it's well known that people have installed kits to give their US market Freightliner and Dodge Sprinters the appearance of being MB Sprinters. I looked at your video, and it looks like the horn pad is a slightly lighter shade than the rest of the steering wheel, like it's been replaced. I don't know if you were trying to be a smart alec with that comment about switching out all Dodge logos for MB logos, but it happens. I even provided a link to a website that sells such kits in my post which you quoted, but you must not have read it.

US market Sprinters did not receive MB logos until the 2010 model year and were not sold at MB dealers or even supported by MB until 2010.

It is my dream to buy one of these and convert it into a hillbilly RV. Wish I could buy yours right now, but am going to have to stay in the $15K range. I think they are great vehicles; somewhat concerned about service, since I hear that they require factory trained techs for even minor repairs. So -- given a little more money in the savings account and a little more knowledge of what service costs will be, and I'll be in the market.

This thread reminds me of many of the car salesman I worked with over the years. They thought they were right about everything even after the evidence slapped them in the face multiple times.

It is a MB van, but back then they were sold as Dodges. Turning them back to Mercedes was easy enough, so many did that. All he has to do is look at the title for definitive proof. If it says Mercedes, then he's right. Most likely, it will say Dodge.
