For Sale: 2006 Mercedes Diesel 319d Sprinter Van

Hello Peaches,

I sell new volkswagens, you all know that. This weekend my customer (original owner) traded in this 2006 Mercedes Benz Diesel 319d Sprinter Passenger Van with 72,xxx miles. The vehicle is badged Mercedes Benz everywhere, but titled "Dodge". The cargo vans are very common, but I have not seen any of these set up by Mercedes for passengers. It is VERY nice. The previous and original owner is a church pastor and bought this vehicle to transport people with him to church. He traded it for a TDI Jetta Sportwagen.

I faithfully adhere to the Forum being a place for enthusiasts and not for commercial purposes. Announcing this opportunity is more like a public service announcement!

The management of the dealership does not appreciate the value of a diesel passenger van and is offering this for $23,988.00 on the used car lot and $21,988.00 on the Internet. If somebody is going to get a SMOKING HOT DEAL, I want it to be one of my friends. At this price, I expect the van to sell immediately, as in "gone today". If you want it call me now - Jeffrey Read - 832-244-1224. Financing is available through the dealership and I have experience handling an Internet sale. You can fly into Houston and I will pick and you can drive it home.

There are two other salespeople calling interested customers and they placed a Craig's listing today. Mercedes is my passion and I don't want them to beat me. After all, it was my customer's trade in. I would have bought it myself if I had money and somewhere to park it!!

I will post "sold" to this thread when we get a contract on the vehicle.

You can buy kits to transform any Dodge Sprinter to an MB Sprinter.

Cost range from a few hundred to a couple grand.

Isn't a 319d a European designation? Is it originally a Euro van? In the USA, Sprinter models had different numbers than that.

What is the passenger configuration? (how many)

The customer told me he ordered this van at a Mercedes dealership. The windshield is signed with the familiar Daimler signature.

Each piece of glass has the Mercedes logo:

The word "Dodge" is not on the van:

The tires are brand new. They still have the little rubber "hairs"...

The model number on the side in the picture is 2500, not 319d. I don't see 319d anywhere on it.

I made a mistake! Dylexia is terrible. It says 316cdi on the front grill, not 319d.

Here is the video I posted on youtube.com

I saw one of the other guys showing the van.

Anyone can buy one of those stickers, that still doesn't make it a Mercedes-Benz branded van. There are kits available to make Sprinters look like their MB counterparts, like the ones at this site: http://mercedessprinterconversions.com/.

I believe it's a Dodge, the "2500" badge is a dead giveaway. You work at a dealer, run the VIN, what shows up in the title?

kerry 04-26-2010 10:52 PM

Sprinters are MB vans with a Dodge badge. They were (initially?) built in Europe, disassembled, shipped to the USA, and reassembled with Dodge badges. I can't see any difference at all between a MB Sprinter or a Dodge or Freightliner Sprinter apart from the badging.

vstech 04-26-2010 10:57 PM

I was under the impression that all sprinter vans were built by freightliner and badged/titled MB/DODGE etc. I have no actual proof of this, just figured... (this is a freightliner town...)

kerry 04-26-2010 11:01 PM

There were Sprinter MB vans long before there were Freightliner Sprinter vans.

It is titled a Dodge. So what? The customer special ordered the vehicle at a Mercedes Benz dealership. It is badged Mercedes Benz, with a Mercedes diesel engine, Mercedes Benz alloy wheels, Mercedes Benz grill, and every piece of glass has the Mercedes logo as OEM. The 2006 vehicle was produced during the marriage between Chrysler and Daimler. Is there anything "Dodge" about the vehicle? Besides the 2500 on the side? I drove it. It feels like a Mercedes Benz diesel passenger van to me, and it looks like one too. There is more Mercedes Benz to the vehicle than a sticker.

You live in Houston. See it for yourself.
