some people's kids

went to an auction, and saw a 83 300 diesel. I said wow, at 190,000 miles it should be reasonable. The auctioneer warned the transmission is slipping. i thought right on, time for a 700R4 swap. Started at $100. noone bid, went on for a while, I was about to say mine when the auctioneer said sorry guys, needs 2 grand for it (reserve). Couldn't even drive outside, they had to push it. The beautiful gold original paint was full of redneck shadetree mechanic homemade bondo job, just bad enough to make it look like an eyesore.

but for a hundred it would have been mine, the engine ran nice

Public auctioins are funny, it's where dealers take junk to sell it to suckers, and they find plenty of both.

The car is worth $1,500 driving. $2,000 with a smoked trans... no thanks.

That's pretty funny. "Oh, we want 2,000 minimum for this car-- you have to push it out though." That can't look too good.
