1985 Mercedes 300D, alll windows not working

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to diagnose all windows not working. I took apart the console window switches and cleaned them up. I checked for power under each window switch and I have it. For example, there is power on the red wire (front left window) and the red/white (rear left). I noticed that I have 2 blue wires for the front drivers side window switch but I didn't see it on the electrical power window diagram I found online, what gives?
Also, I read other posts mention the window relay but hopefully if I have power at the console switches then I should be okay with that relay.
Thanks for any help.

looking at the wiring diagram power goes like this:

connector C107 -> Switch -> motor -> back to switch -> connector C107 -> ground G102

You checked that you have power now check that you have ground.

An easy way to check the motors is to simply bypass the switches and run 12V directly to the motor (via the wires at the switch plug). Hook it up and if the window does not move up (or down), reverse the wires. That will tell you if the motors at least work. Once you know that, you an work backwards from there.

Behind the instrument cluster is a power window relay. On my 1984 300D the power window relay is powered by an 8 amp fuse; the #12 fuse in the fuse box. See if the fuse strip is burned or the body is warped (if the body is plastic get rid of them) and that the ends of the fuse are making good contact and the same with the fuse brackets.

When there is an issue with that fuse or the relay all the windows will not work but there is also some other components that use the same fuse that won't be working either.

In fact it could not hurt to do that to the power window fuses also.

Attached diagram of the power window relay circuit shows two fuses connected to the relay. #12 and #2 Fuses.
I have no idea what roll the #2 fuse plays. However, years ago when all of the window were not working on mine and one other person on another forum it was the #12 fuse causing the issue.

I guess at some point in time the Power Window Relays go bad but I can't remember anyone saying that. That Relay is behind the Instrument cluster.

Looks like it was the two terminals for the fuses associated with the windows.
I was getting 12.3 volts at the power wires on the center console but because the fuse terminals were so pitted/dirty, I must have had very resistance and not enough juice to lift or lower any of the windows. I going to look up how clean fuse terminals effectively.

Be sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal if you are using anything that can conduct electricity while cleaning inside of the fuse box.

Attached is a pic of a fuse that was keeping 2 of my windows from working. Notice at firs look the fuse looks good.
Members have recommended using only fuses with copper or brass metal strips and ceramic bodies.
Personally I use any fuses except the plastic bodied ones but the weather conditions in my area does not cause the fuse to corrode much.
