How to constantly power the sunroof
So I have a horrible habit, I leave my sunroof open. I love my sunroof and open it at any opportunity and often leave it open when parking the car. This can lead to issues when water starts to fall from the sky. Mad dashes across campus or into the parking lot at work to close the roof as my seats get wet come to mind.
So I'm considering a electronic solution, I'd like to put a switch in the area ahead of the roof that would close when water contacts it and activate the switch that closes the roof. (To stop the roof once its closed I'll put a microswitch that will be pushed when the roof is closed) In reality its a pretty simple idea except the roof only operates with the key on. My question is. What is the simplest way to get power to the sunroof all the time. Can I simply run a wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the sunroof fuse? Does the key break the power before or after the fuse?

I think you'd have to experiment. powering the fuse directly may energize the entire aux bus running your battery down quite soon.
I would think powering the relay or moving the power from the current location to a new constant on source would be a simple thing. my thinking has been known to prove worthless at times though... |

does you vehicle have the convenience feature where it will close the windows and sunroof with the key in the door? lock the door, hold the key in the lock position closes windows and sunroof.
Might be easier to tie into that feature.

My car doesn't have that feature (just checked) and you're right, powering that fuse does backpower the entire aux circuit so I'm thinking I'll just remove the sunroof fuse and run a new wire from the battery to the sunroof side of the fuse socket (so i won't be powering the other aux fuses), and put a new
fuse in line.
