1979 OM617 turbo trans fit 79 OM617 N/A
I think I have started something. While looking for a OM617 Turbo motor for a engine swap I have found a very decent 1979 300CD the trans is slipping according to the owner. Now my other son wants this as his first car!
My question is will the trans I have out of W116 300SD fit on the 300CD with a non turbo OM617. I have been told the turbo trans are stronger so was wondering if I could swap it out? I know its a different body 123-116 |

I have seen a 4 bolt pan ex euro fitted in a n/a Australian delivery 84,the turbo trans had larger fittings (banjo bolts) for the oil cooler lines & bigger cooler lines. The inhibitor switch had a different plug. Apart from those it fitted well.
