Can I use 450SEL W116 Flex Discs On a 300SD W116?

I know they are different part numbers, but will the flex discs from a 450SEL W116 fit a 300SD W116? They look identical and I am wondering if the ones made for the 450SEL are just heavier duty (and would possibly last longer).

The reason I ask is because my 300SD needs flex discs badly and if I see a 450SEL at Pull-A-Part with recently replaced flex discs I want to know if I should grab them. Apparently the 280SE uses the same flex discs as the 300SD.

Right now I don't have much spending money since I am saving up for a road trip (in my other Mercedes), but if I can't find any nice used ones then I'll just buy new sometime later. The 300SD needs lots of work to be a driver anyway. But if I found a set of new flex discs in Pull-A-Part for only a couple of dollars as opposed to over $100 new, that would be really cool.

The funny thing, is all of those flex discs look the same. The only difference I can think of would be how much force they are designed to take from the engine. It makes me wonder if they all bolt up.

I can't see any differences in the construction, I bet the bolt pattern is wider on the gasser. if the part numbers are different. you could take one of your old ones to the yard and see if it fits the junker car. as long as the yard marks your old joint when you go in, and you tell them what you are doing, I bet they will let you.

It will not fit. The 450SEL flex disk has a bolt pattern that's larger in diameter.

That's what I needed to know. Thank you very much!
