Wow... Wish you were closer. That amount of knowledge would be priceless in town.

When is the JB Weld technique called for? How well does it hold up?
I wouldn't use this type of repair on compound structural areas like the front most part of the rocker and firewall, but it's a VERY strong and lasting repair.

I repaired my wagon the same way a few years ago and it hasn't degraded in any way.

Chad, you did a great job on that TD.....I hope the owner knows the kind of effort you put forth. That's a great "portfolio" to show off your art.

Loved the Kiln also. My wife works in Fused Glass and is really wanting a kiln...I'll have to share that picture with her!

Thanks for taking the time to document in such detail!

The spray can paint job at the cowl looks great, was it from paintscratch.com or a bodyshop? Great work!

Yup. Brian Carleton and MonsterCraftman both sell kits with a block off plate and a disc for the manifold. It really makes the area look clean.

Thanks and yes she knows. I sent her links to the updates on the thread whenever I posted. She was able to follow along with everything.

I haven't fired up that kiln yet. I'm a bit scared of the electric consumption of a 9600 watt kiln. I have a smaller one that isn't so power hungry. I got the larger electric kiln though because of how consistent and even the heat is. It's perfect for everything from firing glass paints to slumping and frit casting.

I'd like to see your wife's work. I'm always interested in other artists' perspectives.

I bought all the paints from automotivetouchup.com. I think their paints matched the original color better than the paint on the fenders from MAACO. I also used the spray can paint on the hatch and all around the rear quarters.

I don't see part numbers but I ordered this stuff:

12 oz. Basecoat Color Touch Up Spray Paint in MB Code 681 Manilla Beige

12 oz. Touch Up High Gloss Clear Coat Spray Paint

12 oz Aerosol White Primer

I also used mineral spirits, 320, 600, and 1500 grit sand paper and white polishing compound with micro fiber cloths.

Hey Chad, Again great work.

I am particularly interested in your JB weld handywork. I would be cool to have a long term (years?) report of how it holds up against the weather changes and just regular usage. I know you repaired your wagon this way also, so it would be interesting to see how it goes.
