Electrical question...'83 300d

Having a strange issue with my newly acquired 300d. My tachometer works sporadically, but when it is working and I turn my turn signals on, the tach needle bounces with the turn signal flashing. I've noticed that tapping the brake pedal and operating the sunroof does the same thing.

It has a brand new battery and the PO said he put an alternator on it about a year ago.

Any clues? Thanks

Check the ground strap between the body and the engine. It is connected
to the eng/trans adaptor plate. can be acessed from under the car, located on the left side.

It might be tight, but remove it and clean the grease, grime and oil.

I had a problem with my temp gauge jumping around, knew it was a ground
some where. this strap was the problem.

Thanks Guys, the ground strap between the body and engine sounds most like the culprit to me, as there is quite a bit of grease and nastiness in that area. I'll update this once it's taken care of.

Where is that exactly? Driver's side?

I thought I had my jumpy temp gauge fixed when I replaced the sensor a few months ago, but it seems to be getting jumpy again.

Thanks!
