SLS Pump Removal -- Which way does this piece face?

I removed the SLS pump last night and this piece fell off. It is positioned between the pump and the engine block. Does anyone know which way it faces? Indented side facing towards engine or facing away from engine?

Thanks

Here's the diagram of the 617 pump. I believe the side with the angled edge faces in to the drive shaft for the pump.

1b is the driver (the piece you're asking about)

Then again, the FSM mentions nothing about orientation of the driver. It's possible that the "indentations" you see are wear marks.

Was this engine run without hydraulic fluid moving through this pump for extended period of time?

I can't say. When I got the car the reservoir was below the minimum level and the pump was not pumping.

Either way, doesn't look to be a problem. You can always replace it if you want. I can't imagine it's an expensive part but doesn't appear to be available aftermarket. Dealer only?

What was the reason for removing the pump? Are you planning to reseal it?

Yep, I used the reseal kit from that place in Arizona. The smaller gasket was in real bad shape, hopefully this will correct my issue.

I also bought a valve reseal kit. I'll get started on that once I verify that the pump is pumping.
