The best answer is to just bypass all that crap!

I'm not familiar with W123s but here's what I'd do: I'd go ahead and plug the thing with a golf tee or a screw or whatever you can find and see what happens... go for a ride and see if the tranny behaves differently or if you get more or less power...

vacuum

Yes The alda has the clear line going to it and is connected ( I cleaned the 100% plugged banjo bolt)

I have plugged the vacuum lines w/ golf t's
as per the peter schmit diagrams with the red x's on them, I just dont know what this part is or what it does?

Am I correct that it is the one pictured on the firewall same as #81? switchover valve? Or # 125 in the diagram?

It's the Overboost Protection Relay, also known as the switchover valve. From the OPR, one vacuum line would go to the banjo bolt on the back of the manifold and the other would go to the ALDA. Mine is also disconnected and I've been told by many, including my mechanic, that having it unhooked/bypassed is no problem. The turbo waste gate performs the same function, I've been told. I'm not sure whether it's #81 or #125 in your attached diagram. I'd venture to guess that it's #125. Regardless, it shouldn't be a big deal to have it disconnected.

You can bypass the over boost protection valve.
The 85's are a bit different and I can't tell what that disconnected line is.
