om603 or om606 fan clutch?
i just removed the fan clutch from my 87' 300TD and it has a part# 606 200 00 22 and a date of 08/09/98. is this an original om603 or a newer om606? just want to make sure before i drill a hole and start adding fluid?

if the part numbers go the way I think they do, It looks like it's for a 606, but i could be wrong

it also has plastic blades and i know the 606 200 "01" 22 is from the om606, but not sure about this one.

it's not the same as a 606 fan, Couple of questions re: clutch fan replacement and evaporator cleaning
also notice that there are no notches in the blades like a 603 fan... aftermarket? |

The fan I have on my 603 looks like that one, but has a 606 200 01 23 part number. I deliberately bought a 606 version, 'cause they're much cheaper than the original 603s

this fan was already in the car when i bought it and i have no history on the car either, just what i can figuere out myself. after the date it also says, SACHS 15 2100 024 001 and that its Germany. not sure if that helps!

I'm fairly certain it's a newer 606 version, so why do you want to add fluid?

i originally thought it was a 603 cause i didnt hear it roar on cold overnight star-up and when the car was about 100* C after shut down it kept spinning for a while! i wonder if i have a bad 606?

I have a 606 fan and clutch in my 603, replacing the original clutch and metal fan, but it doesn't look like yours. However, it is plastic and has nine blades like yours so maybe it just had a different manufacturer.
The clutches are supposed to engage starting at 105C. Maybe 100C on your gauge just isn't hot enough. Try idling the engine and putting a blanket over the front of the radiator to block the air flow (this is my mechanic's recommendation). Keep an eye on the gauge so the engine doesn't overheat but let it get up to about 110C and see if the clutch doesn't engage. Jeremy

personally i would just put an electric fan on.. fan clutches seem to be problemmatic.
