123 Dash swap question

Is it possible to remove and install the 123 dash without removing the steering wheel? The dash is out of the donor, removed the steering wheel & A pillar trim but cant the wheel off the TD. I have heard it can be done, yes, no, maybe Another option is the glass guy is coming out in the near future to replace the windshield. I wonder if it would slip right in there with the windshield out? I could also try harder on the steering wheel nut, impact wrench wouldn't get it.

Yes you can install the dash without removing the steering wheel. I've done it. You just have more room with it out.

Loosen and remove the two nuts (I think they're 13s) on the steering column support and the steering wheel/column will drop down allowing the dash to clear. Before fully re-installing the dash just make sure to secure the steering column to its support.

It seems to me the 'early" 123s used a big nut which you could get some thread loosening liquid on but the allen bolt can be a real bugger. Dropping the steering column sounds like the way to go. I would just as soon be done when the glass guy gets here. Thanks

It's definitely possible...I've done it several times. You just have to twist the dash a bit, and remove it through the passenger front door.
