Can't turn off my hazzard lights...

This is on my '85 300D - I've had trouble with the hazzard switch for a while now, but it seems it broke for good coming home from work today... nice thing was that people were no longer tailgating me like they normally do, since the hazards were flashing...

Two questions:

1) Does the gear shifter wood console have to come off to get the hazard switch to pop off?!

2) Even though this switch is 'stuck' can I bridge it somehow to get by for a day or two until the replacement part arrives?! Otherwise I'll be taking a bus tomorrow... :)

Sorry, didn't search this time - so if it's already been covered, please point me to it.

Thx,
James

The switch is mounted with 2 clips, one at each long end. Ya need a small thin bladed screwdriver or a decent knife to slide down between the switch and the wood frame being gentle so you dont harm the wood.

Once you get it about a 1/2" down... press in towards the switch while very slightly pressing up. The switch should pop up allowing you to disconnect the switch and pull it.

With it out, you should be able to clean it. If you have a can of contact cleaner...and if you get very lucky... you can just spray it. Otherwise you will have to take the switch apart and clean it... or just replace it.
