i was thinking the same thing. BUT, he replied in an email that it's a 4spd. looks like it's got manual windows. plus, i would have not posted if it was a 5spd.

I can go look today. I don't feel like being in the office much today and I need to go over that way anyhow.

Looks like the same color as my 79 SD. Don't see that blue very often.

What's his bottom-line $s on what he'll take for it? See that color a lot in Texas.

Did/does it run?

Ok. Went and saw it for you FrontWheel.

It's in about 7/10 shape. I say this mainly out of the fact it's been sitting for 5 years maybe driven a few times to keep everything moving.

He had it running when I got there. Battery was dead (but very new) and he was letting it run to charge. Speaking of running, it's a bit harsh. I think the mounts are shot. Very strong vibration throughout the car but engine was not rocking. There was a slight piston slap or knock. Good bit of blowby - as I opened the oil fill, it sprayed oil from under the cap. Metallic sound on the passenger side of engine looked to be a failed air cleaner mount or bracket. Owner states the clutch is bad and won't make it around the block.

Body is in surprisingly good cond. No major rust perforations, not major damage anywhere. The rear passenger side has surface rust around the lower trim (common) but did not appear to have holes. Car was struck by something just to the right of the rear license plate and it pushed in the sheet metal and frame of the right taillight assembly. Rust on the inside of the trunk around this assembly. All surface, the seal under the assembly appears to have lost contact and allowed water in. No rust in the trunk. He had spilled fresh oil back there at some point. I told him he probably prevented some rust with that accident...

The sunroof was fully functional (power) but seals appeared shot. Indications of rust/water intrusion around front of sunroof. Compost build up in all the expected places for a car sitting under a Texas oak tree.

Paint looks fair everywhere but the passenger front door. Surface rust due to paint cracking. Very slight, easily repaired. Paint appears original with no signs of tacky repair jobs or respray. Cute color.

Seats were in GREAT condition. I can't wait to fix the massive failures in mine after sitting in this car. If that is what good 123 seats feel like, I'm springing for new bottom frames and cushions SOON! Small booboo in the back seat at the top near the first aid kit. Looks repairable. Headliner trim issues (velour trim) coming down around drivers rear door. Needs shift knob.

I'd probably offer him $12-1500 with it needing some drive train work. He's moving out of town and doesn't want to keep something he knows he doesn't have the time for. He's doing the right thing and looking for a good home to get this ole girl back on the road. Owner seemed honest and straight forward. Any questions you ask of him, I believe you'll get an honest reply.

Sorry, no more pics.

Oh, the dash was pretty cracked up. Door panels were stretchy. I rarely see them perfect here in Texas. To damn hot and most folks here put crap in their garage, not there cars.

I count myself in a group of maybe 5% in my neighborhood that manage to have both cars in.

I'd probably start at 500 and see what develops from there. It sounds like it needs everything. The seats if good are worth the 500.

It is absolutely NOT a euro model. It has DOT spec bumpers, lights and a 4spd.

He's not a student and I feel the car is definitely worth more than $500. Like I said, the body is in good shape and the engine runs fairly well. The seats are in excellent condition.
