If I can find the right fitting, I should be able to complete the plumbing half of the low oil pressure alarm for the W124. Maybe work on the electrical half if there's time.

Yesterday I pulled the door trim off the W124, the battery tray, fuel filter housing, oil cooler and sanden compressor bracket off the W123.
removed the fuel lines and injectors off the 240D.

Was thinking about pulling the engine out of the 240 and maybe drop the 5 spd out of the 85 190-E

OH by the way, this is at PNP . my other fleet of cars Iam always working on.

4 Days of 50% off, and soooooo many parts to save , I will accept all donations to the PNP save a MB Foundation Fund

I was thinking the 124 cloth trim might work on my 80 240D. it is all ragged and worn and faded. this trim is a light sand color, and they sell the spray on dye for the color change. we`ll see how it works out.

Well yesterday I changed the oil ( now it doesnt drop to 1bar when warmed up and idleing...) I also changed the tranny fluid and filter in hopes of getting rid of my hard shifts (only slightly better after the test drive today) Now all thats left is a rear differential fluid change... And still tracking down my hard shifts...

Yesterday I cut the heads off the flywheel bolts on my 617 since I stripped them out-
Pulled the flywheel and adapter, took a few measurements, and now have all the numbers to build an adapter to the Ford small block bellhousing. The six existing holes in the Ford flywheel line up with the holes in the Mercedes flywheel, I'll just have the other six drilled so it'll have the proper 12bolts holding it all together

did you change the o-rings on the filter shaft? they will affect hot oil pressure readings on the gauge.

SLS spheres, fluid flush, brakes and new suspension links/arms.
But since getting the threads to line up on the little hydraulic line on the passenger-side sphere, tangled up there above the valve and other lines took 2 hours more than it should, ... I think I'm finished for the weekend.

Fixed Vacuum door lock today. For the last few weeks, I've neen plagued with having to lock car within 30 sec after engine shutdown otherwise not enough vacuum. Turns out the yellow vacuum line from the check valve in the engine bay that goes to the vacuum control valve in the door has a leak in it, which results in low vacuum in the reservoir. I cut the yellow line after it exits the door jamb, pulled out the section in the door, pressure tested and found the leak spot. Had to cut away about 10" of the yellow nylon vac line where the leak was and spliced back in the good section with rubber vacuum hose. Works fine now.

No more pinstripe

I removed the dealer installed vinyl pinstripe. I am quite pleased with the new look. Wish I would have done it sooner.

here are my plans (note i have done "nothing" so far this weekend, but my long weekend runs till wednesday )
-install elec. aux. fuel pump to see if that will take away my rough idle (fingers crossed; i'm soooooo hoping the lift pump is just acting funky)
-convert A/C back to R12
-install new radiator
-redo 2 injectors that are leaking (even though i lapped them but maybe i didn't tighten enough, probably will pull all 5 and pop test them again to see how the nozzles are doing after 2000 miles)
-install becker 754.
if there's time left i'll:
-replace lower oil pan seal
-replace tranny filter and flush tranny (still amazed how well the tranny can be adjusted with the bowden cable and ajustments to the VCV; thought i needed to get the tranny rebuilt but after adjustments it shifts beautifully)

told my wife i cannot be bother with anything the next two days, we'll see how that goes....

240D Rear Springs

I had planned to do them this coming weekend, but got them done on Friday as we had a quiet afternoon in shop where I work.

It is important to have the correct tool to compress the springs, as they won't come out safely unless compressed. On most non MB cars, one can simply unbolt the shocks, jack the body up and the springs literally fall out. Not so on my 83 240D. The tool I used goes up through the hole in the lower control arm where the shock lives. Piece of cake with the internal style spring compressor. I used something similar to this: Performance Tool Internal Coil Spring Compressor [WIL-W89311] - $49.99 : KMS Tools & Equipment from Vancouver BC, Selling quality tools at affordable prices all over Canada. Largest powertool, handtool and woodworking machinery retailer in Canada.
The tool I have has the two hooks on one end and slip in plate for the other end.

For those of you that may not have worked with car springs before, treat them with huge respect when they are compressed! There is enough force there to kill you. I always handle them as if they were a loaded gun, nice and easy does it. never work with springs ends facing you, keep the springs pointed to the side.
