That is a wonderful design.

It should improve lubrication to the upper sprockets, the Vacuum pump an the chain itself.

Never seen it before though.

technically, a lighter chain will improve engine performance... I wonder how much weight has been reduced.... would you mind weighing the chain itself?

Holes & weight

The holes dont bother me,but the split in the roller does. I am not going to use it, iam getting one without the split or holes as was the original!Having time to waste as i cant proceed till the next chain arrives i did weigh it,as you can see just a bit over 1kg. Don

didn't notice that. It says alot about the manufacturing process, but the chain's integrity is not based on the roller at all.... its a loose journal bearing. nothing structural.

I think most of us are under the impression that is the best chain manufacturer for these engines.

and thank you for weighing it.

Yes i would have expected the "roller"to be free to rotate but it is not, every one on the chain is facing the same way and they do not turn, but i really do not like the split.I agree on the brand and specified it when i ordered the parts, supplier tells me others in stock with same part # on the box do not have the holes or split Don

that is correct, the rollers should not be 'free' with respect to the inner cage.

If the crimps are facing the sprocket side of the chain, I would be very disappointed.

If the crimps face out, away from the sprockets, there is no real issue.

1+ what he said

I'd say roll the chain on with the holes facing out, away from sprockets.

But IMHO, I bought a MB chain and got it put on for me. The indie would not install any chain that did not have the MBenz logo hologram on a sealed box to show it was genuine. Don't blame him, too much riding on it.

Actually those "rollers" are fixed in the side plates. The only place i can remember seeing chain with split rollers like that was many years ago when my boys had go karts and the rollers were free to rotate, didnt hold up very well anyway. Don
