Looks like the w124 is a diesel.

It's a late W124 too, based on the wheels and the air intake in the fender. OTOH, the W123 is early and doesn't have Bundt wheels.

What's your definition of early and late? My '83 123 came with hubbies, is that still early? they made 'em til '85.

I like that last picture of all the 123 diesels. Its from the faszination, which I enjoy from time to time.

It's not early. It's got the updated headrests, and the extra fin behind the c-pillar trim. Those two characteristics make it a 83-85 model.
