On top of the driver's side wheel well, there's a plastic cover with 2 relays inside. What purpose do they serve? thx!

#47 (large) is the wiper delay and #56 (small) is the auxiliary fan and window regulator. Different relays for different years.

In my 240D one actuates the A/C compressor clutch, the other one actuates the aux fan

Hi Rafi, I pulled the relay box cover off my 83 300D and there are also 2 relays in there. I wonder if they serve the same function? I will check on the 300D. Can't do that on the 240D - no battery and lot's of parts removed.

BTW, how's the EGR/tach working in your 240D?

tach is working great.

Those relays are general purpose cube relays, they are interchangable and used in many places in many models.
