Ignition switch

With all the recent threads about ignition cylinders sticking/freezing, I have a question (as mine acts a bit finicky from time to time). Can anyone point me to a how to (and a where to buy) the ENTIRE assembly? I've had issues with ignition switches on other vehicles in the past, and find it is easier (for me at least) to replace the switch and lock cylinder as a unit rather than piece by piece.

Many thanks.

Glenn

This is for your 83 300D?
There are 3 pieces to the assembly.
the tumbler, the key fits into.
the steering lock assembly that locks the steering wheel.
the ignition switch on the back end of the steering lock assembly.

the tumbler might be what is giving you the problem. go to the dealer with your registration and drivers lic. they are key to your Vin #. you will get a new key along with the tumbler.
Some say they paid $46 for one, I just paid $90 for one at the dealer.

If that doesn`t fix it and you have to go deeper, the steering lock assy. is $172 at the buy parts tab above. I had to replace mine on the 85, but with 360K miles and 25 years, things do wear out.

You difinately do not want the key to get stuck. then you have to drill things out and it gets expensive, time consuming.

here is a thread running now

lock cylindar issue?

this one from a few days ago
removing ignition switch
post# 7 has a exploded picture of the assembly

Thanks for the info Charlie. Yes, it is for the 300D. Sorry, I should have posted that.
