Welcome, ChevyHDMan! You've already gotten the advice on what to do, hopefully you'll be up and running soon. Who knows, getting some good runs on the road might help clean out the system a bit.
You've got yourself an '87 300D, which were all turbos. The TD in 300TD denotes Touring (and/or Transport to some) Diesel which is the wagon, or Estate, model. Also turbo. '87 300TD's are fairly hard to come by, 300D's are more plentiful.
